Fourth of July and More!

Over the fourth of July holiday, we got to enjoy another visit from our favorite twins!

 

Sabrina was so patriotic in her little outfit. 11 months old!

 

 

All four kids loved Gram's $8 swimming pool.

Later that week we went to the Discovery Science Place. The kiddos had so much fun with all the interesting exhibits.

The best part was the large exhibit of a small town. Including a bank, vet, café, city hall, clinic and best of all, a mini Brookshire's.

This visit was fun, but unfortunately we had a round of sickness run through a few of us that Sabrina is still trying to kick. So, we didn't get to do much else after the Discovery Science Place, but we managed to enjoy the time we could. Looking forward to their next visit!

 

 





FIZZ, BOOM, READ! Science Theme For Summer Reading

This summer's theme for our local library's summer reading program is

"FIZZ, BOOM, READ!"

Experiments and learning combined with reading. Fun!

 

My mom did all the decorations as well as coordinated the experiments and food. Here's a glimpse at the greatness she has come up with this year.

Child Infinity Scarf Upcycle: A Tutorial

House building has been somewhat slow. Sort of on pause.

 

 

So instead of a house update, I have a project to share with you.

 

 

Child infinity scarf

made from thrift shop scarves.

 

So simple, you might say, "really?!"

 

Start with a relatively thin scarf about 40-44 inches long.

 

 

I got mine at a thrift shop for less than $1.

 

 

Some scarves have angled edges, creating points at the end. These need to be evened out.

 

 

Cut the ends to make straight edges.

 

 

With right sides together, pin short ends and sew a zig zag seam.

 

 

You could leave it as it is, but I like to give it another nice straight seam.

 

 

Voila!

 

 

And your done!

 

Wrap it twice around your little one and you've got an adorable little accessory!

 

So easy and it makes great use of those silky little scarves you see in all those pretty colors and patterns. Have fun creating!

 

 



Raising The Roof - Plus Family Visit

The time has finally come.

 

We have a roof on our house.

 

 

Even though this is a metal roof, it took a little more time to complete because of the gable. But now it's finished and looks great!

We got to enjoy the company of my niece and nephew recently when they came to stay with my mom for a week.

We enjoyed a special weekend with the twins' parents as well. All in all it was a wonderful visit and I know Ryder can't wait to see them again!

Sabrina is crawling! It's official! She just started yesterday. She's been combat crawling since she was 7 months, but it took 2 months to get up off that belly! She's growing up so quick! 9 months!

 

The house is steadily coming along, but it's slow because Nick has been working more with his job. It won't be long and we'll be hiring some stuff out. There will be a house out there soon!
