For my 21st birthday, I had a Woodstock inspired party. Everyone came dressed as hippies and we partied like it was 1969!

Paris Lingerie Shower

My first lingerie shower to throw, this is probably my favorite. It was a small crowd, but super fun. We did a Parisian theme, and boy was it a blast to do! All the food was chocolate with raspberry hints.

We decorated part of the room like a boudoir, and the other part like a cafe.

Twilight Young Adult Party

My mom and I do a lot of special events for our local library. Our first young adult en devour was a Twilight party. The third movie, Eclipse, was coming out soon so we had a drawing to win a movie theater gift card. It was a blast to throw, and considering the size of our town we had a pretty good turn out.

Tomatillo Sauce/Salsa Verde/Green Sauce

I love tomatillo sauce!! My favorite when going out to eat at a Mexican restaurant. Tomatillos are pretty easy to grow and this is the best thing to do with them in my opinion. I got this recipe from the cookbook entitled Mex Tex by Matt Martinez. Check it out from your local library!

Simplicity Tomatillo Sauce

2 c. chopped onions
3 Tbsp olive oil
2 tsp fresh garlic, minced
3 Tbsp flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp granulated sugar
2 c. chicken broth
1lb tomatillos, quartered
1/2 c. fresh cilantro
2-4 fresh jalapenoes

In medium saucepan, saute onions in oil on medium heat until clear. Add garlic, flour, salt and sugar.

Stir and cook for 2 to 3 minutes, being careful not to burn onions.

Add chicken broth. Add tomatillos, cilantro and whole jalapenoes.

Stir and simmer on medium for about 15-20 minutes or until jalapenoes are soft.

If you want it mild, remove jalapenoes before blending. The amount of jalapenoes you blend with the sauce affects its heat. Blend in a blender until smooth.

Prized Pizza Sauce

Okay so it hasn't won any prizes except for "my favorite pizza sauce!" To me, the sauce makes the pizza. Just throwing tomato sauce and oregano together will work, but it's nothing compared to this tasty recipe. The cool thing is you can use it for many things, not just pizza. I used it for calzones this last time. So good!

Pizza Sauce

1/2 c. onions, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 (12oz) can tomato paste
1 1/2 c. water
2 Tbsp Italian seasoning
1 tsp salt
pepper to taste

Saute the onions and garlic in oil on medium heat until tender and clear.

Add half the tomato paste, stir. Add the water, then the rest of the tomato paste.

Add seasoning, salt and pepper. You can adjust the seasoning to your taste; I like a little more. Bring to a boil then turn on low. Cover and simmer for at least 15 minutes, but you can let it simmer as long as you like. The longer it cooks, the more flavorful it gets.

Use as needed and desired.

Jungle Love Lingerie Shower

My friend got married last May, so of course, I commissioned myself to throw her lingerie shower. It was simple but really cool. Don't have great pictures, it was pre-good camera, but you can get the gist of it.

Ryder Rockstar Baby Shower

My husband and I decided we didn't want to find out if we were having a boy or girl when we were expecting. As a result, my mom threw me a baby shower after we had our baby boy. I really didn't want generic things and we got a lot of hand me downs beforehand.

The shower was amazing. Ryder's room had a rockstar theme, therefore the shower did as well. My mom is truly a genius and she worked very hard to pull all this off. She had a lot of help; thanks to all who pitched and helped her bring it together!
