Summer Reading 2016: Read Across Texas

For this year's Summer Reading program at the library, my mom went with a "Read Across Texas" theme. Us Texans can be quite patriotic to our state! It ended up being a really big year, with lots of attendance and some great guests!

Here are some of the decorations and special food my mom made for the theme.

Greeting you as you come in!

The Cinderella castle becomes the Alamo! And there's Big Tex!

Wow!

She did such an awesome job getting this guy made!

We had a trail going all around the room with a horse and rider traveling along as the kids read books.

Cowboy and cowgirl who read!

The Rockin' Read Ranch!

All the indoor food was served on this chuck wagon.

Mmm, some yummy goodies!

Dr. Pepper cupcakes (because Dr. Pepper originated in Texas).

Cactus pickles, rattlesnake eggs, and Pecos cantaloupe.

Texas cookies. These were pretty yummy!

Cowboy hats: chocolate covered pringles with a Rolo on top. Very tasty!

Everyone loves a fudge cow patty.

Rice Krispie hay bales.

All the food was delicious and the decorations were fabulous. But most of all, the kids had a great time and look forward to Summer Reading again next year!
